Contribution to Nature Study on Autism Development
A recent study led by the Novarino Group at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA), published in the journal Nature, includes a contribution to the data analysis from our institute.
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is linked to a diverse set of genes, but little is known about how mutations in different genes lead to the similar symptoms we collectively call ASD. To address this, the Novarino group conducted a study investigating the similarities and differences of associated genes over the course of early life development in mice.
As part of this collaboration, Daniel Malzl and Jörg Menche contributed to the data analysis, utilizing an advanced network framework to help process the massive genetic datasets. This collaborative effort helped reveal molecular ‘points of convergence’ that explain how different gene defects trigger these shared core symptoms.
