2026 Quantum Innovation Catalyzer Program

We are proud to announce that members of the LBI-NetMed team have been selected for the 2026 Quantum Innovation Catalyzer Program at Cleveland Clinic. Their winning proposal explores groundbreaking ways to integrate network medicine with quantum computing.

The Quantum Innovation Catalyzer Program identifies high-potential concepts through a highly competitive selection process, providing teams with the resources needed to scale their impact. Joel Hancock, in collaboration with Jörg Menche and supported by Mathilde Meyenberg, developed a novel approach to applying quantum algorithms to network medicine. By combining advanced bioinformatics with quantum-driven process orchestration, their work focuses on analyzing complex multi-gene interactions in rare diseases—identifying biological mechanisms that remain “invisible” to classical computational methods.Through this innovation, they aim to pioneer advanced diagnostics and therapeutic strategies for complex clinical conditions.

In tandem with this program, and under the strategic guidance of Peter Ruppert, a new spin-off named EntangleBio has been established. This venture is further bolstered by its participation in the IBM Quantum Accelerator ecosystem, ensuring that the team has the cutting-edge infrastructure necessary to transform their vision into clinical reality.
