Art Spotlight

Science, technology and art form a synergistic whole in our group. The vignettes below provide some examples of our contributions to art exhibitions and exhibtions that were curated and organized by our team.

X FRAMES PER SPACE – different logics, shared questions

In November 2025 LBI NetMed and Vienna Contemporary Art Space hosted the major exhibition “X FRAMES PER SPACE – different logics, shared questions” at alte WU. Spanning 1,200 square meters, the project acted as a “mycelial network” where the boundaries between biology, medicine, and artistic production dissolved.

The exhibition invited visitors to explore how we frame our reality through a dialogue between scientific insights and creative expression. Featuring contributions from our multidisciplinary team of experts, the works ranged from digital art and robotics to painting and sculpture—all examining the conditions of human perception and the interaction of complex data systems. While the physical installation has concluded, the creative networks it sparked continue to influence our interdisciplinary research.

The Shape of Things to Come

In 2022 we organized and curated a multimedia exhibition showing art works contributed by both artists and scientists. The works ranged from sound and video installations to interactive Virtual Reality performances and Augmented Reality content shown throughout the Vienna Bio Center Campus.

The Nature of Systems

Our work The Nature of Systems was shown at the Ars Electronica Festival 2022. The art work combines a 3D Deep Space Video projection with a live performance. Central themes of the work are the emergence and breakdown of complex systems from the cellular to the planetary scale.

Ars Electronica 2022

We showed our mixed reality exhibition The Shape of Things to Come during the Ars Electronica Festival 2022. The exhibition featured a variety of scenarios developed by artists and scientists of how they imagine, assess and influence our environment in the future.

Entangled Realities

We showed our video installation Entangled Realities at the Deep Space 8k during the Ars Electronica Festival 2021. The video installation investigates the diversity of complex systems that shape our human habitat.

Future Innovator Summit

Jörg took part at the Future Innovators Summit within the Ars Electronica Art Thinking School program. Future Innovators from different cultures and backgrounds and from different fields – such as artists, designers, scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, social activists and philosophers – explored new ways of collective brainstorming on the crucial questions for humanity, and to create future scenarios.
