Our Lab

At the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Network Medicine, we aim to create an environment where science, technology, and art come together, inspiring bold and unconventional ideas. This vision is not only reflected in our research but also in the space where we work.

Our institute is located on the top floor of the Alte WU, the former building of Vienna’s University of Economics. This historic building has been transformed into a vibrant hub of creativity and innovation, now hosting artists, social organizations, media studios, and more. From our workspace, we enjoy some of the best views of Vienna, a constant reminder of the inspiring city we call home.

Designing our lab was a collaborative effort. Through brainstorming sessions and workshops, we envisioned a space that accommodates diverse work styles and needs. The result is a collection of dedicated zones: the Interaction Zone, equipped with writable walls and tools to foster collaboration; the Deep Work Zone, designed for focused, concentrated work; and the Factory, an open floor area that encourages dynamic, hands-on activities.

Every element of our workspace was designed and built by us, reflecting our commitment to creating an environment that matches the interdisciplinary and innovative spirit of our institute.
